While urbs such as SSM and Windsor are still competing to wear the outmoded mantle of “green”, the more style and science conscious are realizing that alternative energy is just fossil fuels rebranded.
The book “Green Illusions” was written by Ozzie Zehner, a visiting scholar at the university of California, Berkeley. His recent publications include science pieces in Christian Science Monitor, The American Scholar, Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, The Humanist, The Futurist, and Women’s Studies Quarterly. He has appeared on PBS, BBC, CNN, MSNBC, and regularly guest lectures at universities.
Zehner’s research and projects have been covered by The Sunday Times, USA Today, WIRED, The Washington Post, Business Week and numerous other media outlets. He also serves on the editorial board of Critical Environmentalism.
Zehner primarily researches the social, political and economic conditions influencing energy policy priorities and project outcomes. His work also incorporates symbolic roles that energy technologies play within political and environmental movements. His other research interests include consumerism, urban policy, environmental governance, international human rights, and forgeries.
Zehner attended Kettering University (BSc -Engineering) and The University of Amsterdam (MSc/PhD – Science and Technology Studies). His research was awarded with Honors at both institutions. He lives in San Francisco.
Ozzie Zehner, exposes solar as yesterday’s cute mutt in this Authors@Google lecture.
“Ten years from now, will we think of renewable energy as clean and green? Emerging research on the side effects and limitations of solar cells, wind turbines, biofuels, electric cars and other alternative energy strategies will likely transform conventional wisdom about what’s green, and what’s not. Which players will be left in the dust? Who will innovate the next green revolution? “
Here is a great video of a physicists version of why these unreliable, intermittent and costly energy adjuncts masquerading as “alternatives” can never be one.
Green really IS the old Black.
