The caped crusader of the GREED energy underworld has struck again! Gideon Foreman of the notorious green lobby group Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (NOT a medical association) has descended on the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario to once again help destroy democracy wherever it strives to give voice to concerns about real health issues in preference to non-existent threats, recently debunked anew, from “dirty coal”.
The Annual General Meeting of the RNAO was to be the opportunity for the membership to regain scientific respectability lost when the RNAO Board of Directors opted to join the unholy Clean Air Alliance “third party validators”. “The RNAO seems to get most of its information from environmental groups specifically the Ontario Clean Air Alliance. This group was one of a cadre of groups (Ontario Sustainable Energy Association was another) that together with the wind industry lobby created the Green Energy and Green Economy Act, which was written specifically to benefit the wind industry. ”
The solid ground work by RN Debbie Shubat along with with the entire Algoma Chapter in unanimously passing a resolution asking for support for a properly designed, clinical health study, and for a halt to wind projects until their safety has been confirmed, was unfortunately undermined before that same resolution could be properly presented at the AGM.
The RNAO Board Of Directors first wanted Shubat and co-sponsor WCO President and RN Jane Wilson to await their new policy statement. At an LSARC meeting in Prince Township with Algoma Manitoulin MPP Mike Mantha where Ms. Shubat first publicly presented the resolution Ms. Shubat said, “I will not accept anything short of a moratorium on wind development until full health studies are complete”. In fact the recently released policy statement reads like NDP political policy, not something produced by a health sciences professional body.
The evening before the vote the RNAO staffer responsible for drafting the new position paper side-lined the spokesperson for the resolution so there was no proper representation to the membership in the process. The pre-vote time allotment of 5 minutes was consumed entirely by the propaganda performance of Gideon Foreman for CAPE. To quote again the Nurses for
Safe Renewable Power blog, ” One group is trying to stand up for the health of the people of Ontario: who is it? The nurses who live in Ontario’s rural communities, or the downtown Toronto-dwelling RNAO staff?”
