Est. 800-1000 Citizens March at Feed in Tariff Corporate Welfare Protest

800 to 1,000 people from all over Ontario arrived in front of the Toronto Convention Centre this morning to protest against the FIT Corporate Welfare program McGuinty’s LIberal government has implemented. Despite the record Provincial debt and the not-so-subtle hints from the international community that Ontario needs to get its fiscal house in order McGuinty is full steam ahead implementing his Green Energy & Economy Act through the FIT (Feed-In-Tariff) program which will see Industrial Wind generation in the Province increase by a factor of 10 over the next few years. This FIT program is the same policy which brought certain European countries to the brink of bankruptcy. Never ones to learn from the mistakes of others McGuinty and his Government plan to cut social services and health care but encourage the program which reaps such huge profits for foreign energy corporations.

The protest held in Toronto today is one of many being held concurrently around the world by other grassroots organizations that oppose the negative environmental, economic and health impacts of renewable energy.

Unlike the people in the Convention Centre who are there with McGuinty dividing up the public money and who are all funded by your tax dollars, all the protesters outside paid for the signs, accommodations and transportation to the event out of their own pockets. No Trillium grants for them, no charitable status tax exemption write-offs for them, no Government grants for them to lobby the Government with.
